In the year 2003 the Betzmeir
company celebrates the 70 anniversary. More still: at the same time begins
with the completion one
bus-resounds and a new office an important step into the future of the
enterprise. A good resons to look back on an eventful comany history.

As in the year the light of
the world its life way saw, was apparently clearly marked 1914 Anton
Betzmeir in Hollenbach (Bavaria). As an oldest son of altogether thirteen
brothers and sisters he should continue the family tradition and earn its
living costs as a farmer. It should come however differently, Anton the
passion for all motorized one from its father had inherited. This took up
for itself the first engine-mobile inhabitant (motorcycle) of Hollenbach to
have been. Thus the decision was easy to acquire a used Ford V8 and convert
it to the minibus.
In the autumn 1933 Anton
Betzmeir from it created a small transport company. In this time an easy
economic upswing prevailed, nothing the despite required this step to
much courage on the motorized transportation of passengers was not yet
prepared nevertheless the world. Owing to the farsightedness of this
pioneer and his brother Jakob Betzmeir few years later in addition,
developed so the company Betzmeir bros.
With regular travels to the market in Augsburg the regular transport
service was justified, travels just married luckies to the Bavarian seas
and into the alps put the cornerstone for the later bus tourism. But the
outbreak 2. worldwar changed many fates. Anton came obligated to the
work service, only little later the detached duty to the armed forces,
which became own trucks with conscripted. After altogether 6 heavy years
in the war, he was wounded and was a Russian POW for further years.
After Anton returns to the homecountry, everything was destroyed.

The new beginning in the
year 1948: From an old chassis and allready running engine remained
by the war the first bus was together-tinkered provisional after the
war. The regular transport service from Hollenbach to Augsburg was taken
up again, with short trips to the Bavarian seas and the alps began the
passenger traffic again. In the year 1951 already, a Borgward used bus
with 90 HP (!), gradually developed the business and the bus fleet was
increased. In the year 1958 the first bus with rear engine (a Setra) and
comfortable seating, thus were already accomplished travels to South
Tyrol and in dolomites. Anton and Jakobs originated from a strictly
catholic parents house, there pilgern into the cradle had been already
put. Thus one organized 1958 also the first organized pilgrimage to
Lourdes in France. The travel took place under partly adventurous
conditions, put however the corner stone for the later pilgrimage. Since
that time Lourdesfahrten are accomplished without interruptions.
In the year 1973 the first bus with air conditioning came, 10
years later the first bus with toilet and small citchen. The frist
refrigerator in the bus was sponsed at that time still by the brewery.
Since 1976 the management turned into on the second generation,
Anton junior and Georg entered gradually also into the business. In the
year 1986 the bus and trucks division were also economically separated -
enterprise into two Ltd.'s. Since then the line lies in the hand of
Anton Betzmeir and his wife Mrs. Anna-Maria. Today provide altogether 10
employees and 8 comfortable touring buses for a secured basis and solid
advancement in the future. |
